CES 09: Olympus Introduces 26x Optical Wide-angle Zoom

Olympus recently announced the SP-590 Ultra Zoom - a superzoom that features a 26x Optical Wide-Angle zoom lens! This monster comes packed with the following features: * 12 Megapixel CCD * F2.8-5.0, 26X optical zoom lens, equivalent to 26 - 676 mm * Sensor-shift image stabilization * 2.7" LCD display (230k pixels) + electronic viewfinder * Full manual controls, plus tons of scene modes * New scene modes include multiple exposure, soft background focus, birdwatching, and "beauty" mode, which softens skin tones; there's also a Beauty Fix option in playback mode to remove blemishes or enhance your subject's eyes * Built-in support for wireless flashes * Same Shadow Adjustment, Perfect Shot Preview, and face detection features from previous models * VGA (30 fps) movie mode with sound * HDMI output port * Unknown amount of onboard memory + xD Picture Card slot * Uses four AA batteries; battery life not available Here's what Nadine Clark, product manager, Olympus Imaging America Inc. had to say: “The SP-590UZ brings subjects closer with the world’s most powerful optical zoom, and the zoom is just one of many elements that set this camera apart.
