Interview with Mr. Masaru Tamagawa, Managing Director, SONY India

18 Dec, 2010, 1:11 pm IST | by Shayne Rana | Point and Shoot

Sony just recently launched their much awaited Alpha NEX series of digital cameras in India. These new cameras seem like great options for those photo buffs who don’t want the high-end complications of a DSLR but would like the option of having lenses for different purposes. While the quality may definitely be way up there with some of the best digital cameras in the world, these devices are not directed at the pros but for those enthusiasts and mature photographers who would prefer something that’s easy to carry around while traveling.

They look like digicams, but act a bit like DSLRs

These cameras come with a multitude of upbeat and advanced features like 3D Panorama sweep (super fast auto-stitch capability). It's a little odd that the 3D option is available only in this one specific mode and is not applicable to video recording (1080i - NEX-5 and 720p - NEX-3) or standard still images. Another quirk is that the lenses can't be used on DSLRs without an adapter (which is separately sold), however DSLR lenses are compatible with both these cameras.

We got the opportunity to interview Mr. Masaru Tamagawa, Managing Director, SONY India and asked him a few questions about the new cameras. Take a look at the video to know what he had to say.
