Cowon Announces Three New Devices

A while back, in September to be more precise, we had heard that Cowon iAudio were planning on launching a rather uniquely styled DAP. The ad campaign showed off a keychain like ‘thing’ with strange hieroglyphics in the background. Well we know it was a player of some kind and now that player has also made its way to India along with a host of other oddly designed devices.

First off is the Cowon E2, the one that looks like a keychain that should come attached to the keys of a Beemer. It’s a rather basic MP3 player that supports USB 2.0 connectivity for data transfer and simple controls located on the side. It’s available in 2GB and 4GB capacities which are priced at Rs. 3000 and Rs. 3,600 respectively.

The next player is the iAudio 9 PMP. Like Samsung’s PMP players the iAudio 9 comes with a touch sensitive navigation system underneath the 2 inch TFT LCD display (240 x 320 pixels with 262k colors). It supports AV out in NTSC or PAL formats and comes in 4GB, 8GB and 16GB capacities. The iAudio 9 also comes with video codec support for XviD video formats. It also has a built-in microphone for leaving voice memo, a .TXT file viewer for reading eBooks and an FM radio as well. Cowon has also incorporated their JetEffect 3.0 audio engine as well as other sound effects to help enhance the audio.

The third device is a rather stylish USB 2.0 Pen Drive called the UM1. It’s available in 2GB, 4GB, 8GB and 16GB capacities. The device is enclosed in a metal casing that’s also water proof. Cowon is also issuing it with a 1 year warranty. If the 'Don't Forget Me' bit is actually part of the design, the UM1 comes off as a little lame.

Right now Cowon India has pre-order prices up on their website for the three devices. Chances are that the price will go up as soon as they're officially launched. Click on the image for the pre-order pricing.
