ilounge.com/index.php/backstage/comments/zune-interface-features-detailed/">iLounge has got some details about the new iPod competitor, Microsoft Zune. The first pictures reveal an almost exact copy of the iPod, including the touch wheel, but apparently the wheel is just a four way navigation pad like some iPod fakes floating around. Ugh. The user interface is unsurprisingly similar to the iPod UI, only in reverse (white text on black) with some visual effects like a selection bar that fades in and out, and a custom wallpaper option. Scrolling is enhanced with a Windows Mobile 5-style letter being displayed large and prominently. The large size of the Zune screen has also been put to good use by displaying full-width album art (CD covers) with space for track details below. However, the interface to browse videos and photos on the Zune is apparently not as good as the iPod - it's a simple list of folders with extra info below each.
Other confirmed details about the Zune include WiFi support to share tracks with other Zunes, albeit with a time limit restriction, and - interestingly - an FM radio tuner, making it already win over most Indian iPod wanters! |
