| Nike has tied up with Apple to introduce new iPod-ready running shoes, to tune in to your workout. Nike has announced that its new Air Zoom Moire shoes can send fitness data to an iPod Nano. The Nike+iPod system works wirelessly through a sensor in the shoes and a receiver attached to the Nano. Information such as distance covered, time, pace and calories burnt will show up on the display of the iPod along with an audio feedback for the same (optional). Runners can even upload the workout data, access track progress over time and compare them with others on a new website called nikeplus.com. The kit will be available for $29 and is expected to hit the market soon. In addition, Nike has also launched a line of performance clothing, including jackets and shorts, that holds iPods conveniently. With six new iPod-ready models in the reckoning, Nike is really going all out to cash in on the iPod's success. Although the product looks promising, there are doubts if it will work in the longer run. Afterall, gyms are already equipped with machines that give the necessary information. |
