Sony NW-S200 Series Launched in India

Sony's Sports Walkman NW-S200 series has been launched in India. The unique-looking, cylindrical-shaped, splash-proof digital audio player comes with Sony'’s G-Sensor technology that assists the pedometer in the player, which is useful to sports activities and physical exercising such as jogging.

What's unique in the S200 series is it's 'Music Pacer' feature that automatically plays music based on your pace, giving you fast or slow music depending on your tempo!

The S200 series players support MP3, WMA, AAC and Sony's ATRAC format music files. They feature a jog-dial that lets you control the player in a very minimal way, but does offer advanced features such as an equalizer in addition to the various play modes and pedometer features. The shuffle mode can be toggled by simply triple-shaking the player.

The device is a slim 1.5cm thick and a little under 10cm long. The player is really light, weighing in at just around 25.5gms. They connect to the PC via USB and feature 'Rapid Recharge' that gives you an hour's worth of battery life in only a minute, while a full charge can last for upto 18 hours.

The S200 series come bundled with an arm-strap and earphones with attached ear-clips, clearly targeted at sports activities. They are available in 1 GB (NW-S203F) and 2 GB (NW-S205F) sizes and in black or silver variants.

The MP3 player was announced back in August, and is now available for purchase in India. The 1 GB NW-S203F costs Rs. 8,990 and the 2 GB NW-S205F costs Rs. 10,990.

I've got the NW-S203F for review and I must say it looks fabulous. It makes me want to go out and get some exercise only to try out the sports features. I guess I have an early day tomorrow!
