IFA is here once again and Samsung has decided it's time to show off their latest in Digital Audio Players (DAP). The YP-S5, YP-T10 and the YP-P2, will all be on display. All three players are equipped with Bluetooth. Samsung has not been clear with regard to this idea of having Bluetooth in their players. Presumably, you could use a set of Bluetooth earphones or a headset to listen to music. So audio streaming could be the reason but it’s not clear yet. The YP-S5 appears to be a step up from the previous YP-K5. Not only is it slimmer than its predecessor but it also features Bluetooth 1.2, has a 1.8 inch TFT LCD display sporting a resolution of 220 x 176 pixels. It even comes equipped with an FM radio with recording capabilities. It’s also possible that using the Bluetooth radio, the S5 may be able to dial numbers for your mobile phone. It also has a built in speaker and is available in 2GB, 4GB and 8GB models. The next on the new list is the YP-P2 which is equipped with a 3 inch touch screen that has a 480 x 234 pixel resolution. It also uses Samsung’s DSNe sound system and of course, also has Bluetooth. Amongst its other features are a calendar and a radio as well. The P2 is also going to be available in 2GB, 4GB and 8GB versions with colors like black, wine red or white. The YP-T10 supports video playback as well for MPEG 4/WMV formats. So technically it can’t really be classified as just DAP. It also has voice recorder. It’ll be available in 2GB, 4GB and 8GB models. It will also be available in colors including Midnight Black, Mystic Purple, Maple Red, Lime Yellow and Cloud White. It's equipped with a large 2-inch screen and also has Bluetooth 2.0 capabilities. Unfortunately there’s no word on pricing or their availability, so I guess we’ll have to wait and see. But rumor has it that the YP-S5 and YP-T10 should be out in Europe somewhere in December. But for more information on the YP-S5 / YP-T10 and YP-P2 check out Pocket-Lint. |
