PlayStation Home To Hit The PS3

07 Mar, 2007, 7:01 pm IST | Nikhil Singh | Console

Sony plans on announcing their new online service for the PlayStation 3 today, at the Games Developers Conference in San Francisco. Similar to Microsoft’s Xbox Live Service and the Wii’s online service, Sony seeks to surpass them with their very own PlayStation Home. They plan on doing this partially by offering virtual prizes to gamers as they progress through and achieve things in games. They will also be able to entertainment content via this service, which will help Sony build a community.

According to NYTimes, PlayStation 3 owners expect this new service to launch somewhere around fall 2007. Will the PlayStation Home match up to the Xbox Live and Wii’s Online service? Only time can tell, and if they implement the features that the service is rumored to have they might just do better than, or at least match up to their competitors.
