In reports published in Japan, Sony plans on shrinking their Cell processor to 45-nm next year. PS3s currently house 65-nm processors. Shrinking them to 45-nm means that there’ll be a significant price drop, and Sony will be able to compete with the 360’s price far better. The Xbox 360’s Xenon already houses a 45-nm processor, and word is that they’re working on 45-nm GPUs too, so the console gaming market should only get more competitive next year. [Via Engadget] |
