Canon Unveils Four New Color Image Scanners

Canon U.S.A. on Monday introduced four new USB 2.0-based scanners - the CanoScan 8600F, LiDE 600F, CanoScan 4400F and LiDE 70. Prices range from $79.99 to $179.99. Most of the scanners scan photos at up to 4800 x 9600 dot per inch (DPI) optical resolution. The 8600F and 4400F scanners include built - in “Film Adapter Units” (FAUs) to simplify the scanning of 35mm negatives and mounted slides. The $179.99 8600F model can scan up to 12 frames of 35mm film, four mounted slides and medium-format negatives. Seven “EZ” buttons enable users to copy, scan, optimize scans for e-mail and more; the scanner also features four PDF function buttons that generates PDF files without having to involve the user in further interaction with the host computer. The $149.99 LiDE 600F can work vertically or horizontally. It can also open 180 degrees to scan wide or three-dimensional objects. It uses a single cable for both data and power, and uses a CIS scanning element with 48-bit color depth. It features seven EZ buttons and PDF functionality. Also included is an FAU that can scan up to six 35 mm frames at once. The $99.99 4400F model includes software to correct and enhanced scanned images; a built-in FAU can handle up to six 35mm negatives or four mounted slides simultaneously. It also includes seven EZ buttons.The LiDE 70 replaces Canon's popular LiDE 60-" a slim, flatbed scanner with a metallic finish and $79.99 price tag. It works at 2400 x 4800 DPI color resolution and comes with four EZ buttons. The Z-Lid helps the scanner scan bulky items. [/TAGS] |
