Just a few days back, Samsung announced its ‘Optical Sensor in Pixel’ LCD panel, which was installed in their SUR40 Microsoft surface. At 40 inches, the SUR40 was definitely one of the biggest touch panels we knew of, but wait, now there’s competition. Perceptive Pixel has showcased their new 82-inch (!) LCD multi touch display. Here’s a brief lowdown on the features of this display. Ideal for presentations?
Firstly, it sports a full HD 1920 x 1080p resolution, which takes care of your viewing needs at least. In terms of touch sensitivity, the company claims that even the tap of a fingernail can be registered with other features like sub-millimetre touch precision, near zero parallax, low latency and ‘unlimited’ touch points. At such a massive size, that’s definitely a big plus. Wait, that's not it. The biggest multi touch display that they've got is a whopping 160-incher! Here's a brief demo of their massive display by the founder of the company, Jeff Han (Video Credit - Core77).
The future of touch displays is evolving rapidly and if they’re as functional as they look, then it’s just a matter of time before these massive displays have a varied number of professional applications. Besides the obvious applications like presentations, graphs and brainstorming sessions, what do you think can be the target areas for such screens? Let us know in the comments section below. |
