Great news for all gamers and enthusiast who are eagerly waiting for Nvidia’s and AMD’s next-gen graphics cards as TSMC’s latest announcements put’s everything back on track. The chip foundry has begun volume production of 28nm silicon wafers and has already begun shipment to customers. The firm also claims that it has more than 80 customer product tape-outs at 28nm which is double compared to their 40nm fabrication process.

Among the companies waiting for the new chips are Nvidia, AMD and Qualcomm who are relying heavily on TSMC to start production of their next line of products. Both firms have also offered supportive comments regarding this news. Matt Skynner, corporate VP and general manager of AMD's GPU Division said, "We applaud TSMC's success bringing a robust 28nm process to market, and we look forward to leveraging the benefits of this new process when we ship our next-generation discrete graphics products." Qualcomm will also be moving its Snapdragon S4 chips to the new 28nm process. ARM also announced last week that its Cortex A7 architecture will be made using the new 28nm fabrication process while Texas Instruments also echoed the same for their upcoming Cortex A15 chips.
