MTV Launches TV channel and Social Networking Site

25 Jul, 2006, 5:30 pm IST | by Priyanka Pradhan | Windows

Social networking online will soon take on a new avatar by stepping into the world of television, courtesy MTV. The media giant is set to cash in on the popularity of social networking sites on the internet, by launching a new themed TV channel accompanied by a site called Flux. Flux will enable users to choose which music videos are played on the channel, upload their own clips, send on-screen messages using mobile phones and communicate with each other using animated avtaars. The channel and site will earn revenue through advertisements but will not charge users for uploading material. The Flux site is already available in a test beta version but the TV channel will be launched on September 6.
