There are plenty of people out there just waiting to add their names to the much awaited @facebook.com. Facebook’s new messaging system will allow users to communicate not only with just Facebook users, but other accounts such as Gmail, Yahoo, and other such mail services. This new system will also take care of chat, Facebook messages, SMS & outside e-mail in the Facebook Inbox. This way, you can now communicate with people who aren’t even on Facebook. Here it comes! In this cool video put up by PCWorld, you can actually see what kind of functionality Facebook’s new service provides. This new messaging system has something called the Social Inbox, which ‘pulls data from the social graph and informs your inbox as to which people you communicate with the most, and which messages are of most importance, giving these priority over the others’. Another good thing about this service is that it takes care of all the spam. Oh, but there’s a catch, as Facebook seems to be aping Gmail. Only those that have been invited can use this privileged service, and those who have been waiting can continue doing so. Well, at least for the time being, I guess. But I’m pretty sure that this service will be rolled out with much fanfare in the next few months. |
