Google confirmed on August 20th that it has acquired Like.com. Like.com is an online visual search engine which allows users to visually compare objects like clothing and other apparel directly from retailers in the process of online shopping. Techcrunch says the deal took place in the vicinity of $100 million. Google said in a statement, "While Like.com will operate its Websites separately in the near term, we're excited about the technology they've built and the domain expertise they'll bring to Google as we continue to work on building great e-commerce experiences for our users, advertisers and partners." They will either add it to their Product Search Comparison shopping website or their Commerce Search Engine for retailers. SOURCE: eWeek |
