Google will now offer a resource guide for school teachers, on how to use its products in the classroom. The site, Google for Educators, includes tutorial videos to acquaint K-12 educators with 12 Google products along with links to a training academy, as part of a pilot program for teachers to learn about technology. Google says that the site is aimed to keep teachers updated about technology and to connect them to other educators, so that they can use the web more creatively for teaching. According to the IT giant, teachers will be able to use applicatons such as Picasa to create picture collages of famous Americans, Google Calendar to schedule events or Google Earth to practice graphing data. The site also features Google web search, Google Book Search, Google Maps, Google Video, Google Docs & Spreadsheets, Blogger, Google SketchUp, Google Apps for Your Domain and Google Personalized Homepage. The site also includes a teachers' newsletter, with tips and features on using technology. Moreover, Google also provides educators with some additional multimedia content. The site has videos on Google Earth and SketchUp from Discovery Education, along with a series of podcasts from WestEd at www.infinitethinking.org for more out-of-the box thinking in classrooms.
