Loop Mobile launches Mobile Money

Loop Mobile have launched a new Value Added Service (VAS) called Mobile Money in partnership with ZipCash, according to a report by Telecom Talk. This service enables Loop Mobile subscribers to use their mobile phone as a virtual wallet.

This virtual wallet allows users to pay bills, get additional top ups, shop online and buy movie tickets. Also, there are options to purchase travel tickets, get gift packs and vouchers, local shopping deals and offers on electronics. Services like electricity bill payment, digital TV recharge, and prepaid recharges are also available, according to Loop Mobile. The service will be implemented via simple messaging; however, Loop hasn’t divulged any more details about their new VAS. Interested Loop Mobile subscribers need to register for the Mobile Money services at the nearest Loop Mobile Gallery. They are also required to deposit some cash amount in their Mobile Wallet after which they can avail the services mentioned above. To get more details about the Mobile Money service, subscribers need to send an SMS with the word ‘Money’ to 51888 (Toll-free).

As far as connectivity is concerned, Loop is currently lagging behind its competitors with no 3G, yet. To be fair, better connectivity and tariff plans are more appealing to most subscribers than fancy Value Added Services.
