| IT giant Microsoft has come up with an easy to use, novel way to check child exploitation on the Internet, via its IM service, Windows Messenger. Users of the IM service have the option to report child predators with a click of the mouse, on the "report abuse" icon. The icon will soon be incorporated in the chat software, thanks to UK's Child Exploitation and Online Protection Centre (CEOP) which co-developed the concept. While young users will be encouraged to click the icon when they encounter child predators, the reports would be passed to police forces around the world to track down the predator via CEOP's network. Moreover, users who click on the icon will be given advice about how best to capture evidence and take copies of online discussions. The icon will be available for users of both, Windows Messenger as well as Windows Live Messenger in UK. Read more here. |
