New BlackBerry Pearl Has No Pearl

21 Nov, 2009, 4:35 pm IST | by Shayne Rana | Smartphones

The latest BlackBerry Pearl device (and it’s been a while since there’s been one) has just made an unofficial appearance.  The new device called the Pearl 9100 is quite the looker. It’s sleek and slim in its all black avatar. What did strike me as really odd and of course this is something you’ll notice straight off the bat, is that the BlackBerry Pearl 9100 is devoid of the traditional Pearl. The aspect that gave the range its name, the trackball navigation system that was quite a big hit has now been replaced with an optical track pad. The Sure-Type keypad is very evident so tradition, to a certain extent is still quite intact.

The handset will also feature -
  • 3G, EDGE/GPRS
  • Wi-Fi, Bluetooth with A2DP, USB 2.0 (micro)
  • 3.5mm handsfree socket
The camera’s resolution hasn’t been announced but from the images we can see that it does come with an Led flash. Not much else is known just yet about the handset but rest assured it’ll all be clear during the next few weeks.
