Research In Motion, maker of the BlackBerry range of handhelds, has filed a lawsuit against Samsung, based on the latter's recently launched BlackJack Smartphone. RIM believes that the name 'BlackJack' sounds deceptively similar to their 'BlackBerry'. We don't think there's any chance of a BlackBerry-savvy consumer, accidentally buying the BlackJack, but RIM seems to think otherwise. The BlackBerrys run on their proprietory OS and interface with the BlackBerry Enterprise Server for push email features. Read our review of the BlackBerry Pearl. On the other hand, the Samsung BlackJack, also known as the SGH-i600/i607, runs Windows Mobile 5 and supports other methods of push email and Microsoft Exchange/Outlook synchronisation. |
