Ahead of MWC debut, HTC Ville images leak again

07 Feb, 2012, 9:35 am IST | by Aaron Almeida | Smartphones

A few days ago, a video of the HTC Ville leaked online showing an extremely slim handset running on Google’s latest operating software – Ice Cream Sandwich. Apart from the OS, the handset was also seen running the latest interface from HTC, which is Sense 4.0 UI. This however, is not the first time the handset had been spotted, as it was seen for the first time in November 2011. HTC appears to be having a hard time keeping this yet announced handset under wraps with the device making yet another appearance ahead of its official unveiling. This time, unlike the video, images have surfaced of the handset, which show its depth at 8.9mm, as opposed to the previously believed 8mm thickness.

According to a report by Android Community, who have obtained the images, courtesy of Japanese website Ameblo, the specifications of the handset are reconfirmed with it said to feature a dual-core 1.5Ghz processor as well as a 4.3-inch qHD touchscreen display.

Here is a quick look at what is expected to feature in the HTC Ville:

  • Android 4.0.1 with HTC Sense 4.0
  • 4.3-inch qHD touchscreen with a resolution of 540 x 960
  • 1.5GHz dual-core processor
  • 8 MP rear camera that supports 1080p video capture
  • VGA front-facing camera
  • Wi-Fi a/b/g/n, Bluetooth v4.0
  • HSPA+
  • Beats audio
  • 1650mAh battery

Though this is nothing new to go by, except for the depth of the handset. These are pretty interesting specifications considering it is said to be a mid-range handset. Featuring a depth of 8.9mm isn’t by any means a thick device, as the slimmest handset for the most of last year was the Samsung Galaxy S II measuring at a mere 8.5mm which is just 0.4mm slimmer than the HTC Ville. But, also one has to take into consideration that the S II had the bump at the end, which made it thicker, unlike the Ville which is expected to be the same depth throughout the entire length of the body.

Let us know your reactions on the HTC Ville in the comments section below and as well as your thoughts on the slimming down of most smartphones.
