BlackBerry messenger has been infected by a trojan virus, nicknamed Zeus. This virus has exposed us to the vulnerabilities of the messenger that till then was deemed 'foolproof'.
Infected!
The virus seems to have an effect specifically on the messenger service of the BlackBerry. The virus pretends to be a friendly software/update for the messenger service. Once Zeus manages to gain an entry, it sends a confirmation message to the hacker and then wreaks havoc. It can view, delete and forward SMSs, as also block numbers and change the administrator of the phone. What's adding to the worry is that the interference of the virus extends to the mobile online banking transactions that can increase the nature of damage caused. |
