The 2.8-inch touchscreen is infused with what RIM is calling Liquid Graphics that’s designed to enhance the sharpness of the picture. Near Field Communication or NFC support, that’s still a little ways from being implemented in India, is also part of the 9900 feature set. In case you’re coming in late here’s a quick look at the features that the Bold 9900 will be loaded with –

  • a 2.8-inch capacitive touchscreen with a 640 x 480 pixel resolution
  • 3G, BIS, BES, WiFi, with Hot Spot creation for internet sharing
  • GPS with a-GPS support for third party maps
  • Bluetooth 2.1 with A2DP, USB 2.0
  • 5 MP, fixed focus camera with an Led flash and 720p video recording
  • 8GB internal memory with microSD card support for up to 32GB more

BlackBerry 7 OS also includes a number of pre-loaded applications and integrated functionality like the Premium version of Documents To Go, a native PDF document viewer, BlackBerry Protect offering customers the peace of mind that personal data can be backed up and secured in the cloud and BlackBerry Balance that allows users to enjoy the full BlackBerry smartphone experience for both work and personal use without compromising the IT department’s need for advanced security and IT controls.

RIM has announced the pricing for the Bold 9900 as Rs. 32, 490 (MRP). We can expect the Market Operating Price (MOP) to be lower which will put it in the same league as Samsung’s Galaxy S II and HTC’s Sensation amongst others. The choices for smartphones just got tougher.
