Android’s popularity has risen to a point where other companies want to create a similar operating system. Baidu, a popular search engine in China is said to be working on a mobile operating system they’re calling Quishi. The operating system is going to be full blown and not just a theme or window manager. Google’s Android operating system was based on the Linux operating system but the same can’t be said about Quishi. Cloned?
Baidu hasn’t officially announced the operating system but sources say that the operating system might be based on Google Android. Doing this will be a dangerous move and it might have to face legal threats from Google. Baidu is a pretty popular search engine and it’s even listed in the New York stock exchange. The Quishi operating system will be designed specifically for the Chinese audience. They also have a Twitter-like application made specifically for local users and businesses. |
