CommunicAsia 2010: 14MP Android Phone From Altek Also Features 3X Optical Zoom

| by Shayne Rana | Smartphones

The megapixel count is rising steadily n the mobile phone camera segment. We’re actually up to 14 megapixels now thanks to Altek’s Leo Android smartphone. The same was on hand at CommunicAsia 2010 complete with 3x optical zoom and a Xenon flash with an LED flash as well for video shooting. It’s running on an Android 2.1 OS with a customized UI and supports 3G as well as Wi-Fi and Bluetooth with A2DP.

According to a report the Leo uses a lens that’s akin to the one’s used in stand-alone digicams. The camera will also feature smile/face detection and other camera features that one normally finds in high end camera phones. Not much else seems to be known about the handset, but it’s expected in Q4 of this year and will hit China, Hong Kong and Taiwan for a price of about $500 (US) that works out to about Rs. 23,300.

If you’ve used any of Samsung’s flagships in the past, you’ll be right at home with the new S4. We quite liked the handset during our brief encounter with it a few weeks back and after using it for about a week, we have come to like it even more.
