First image of an ICS running Motorola smartphone leaks

Back in January, Motorola had announced its partnership with Intel to bring Atom Android smartphones to their existing portfolio of devices. Motorola generally uses Texas Instruments OMAP processors with most of their handsets and Motorola CEO, Sanjay Jha said that they were delighted to be partnering with Intel to launch smartphones and tablets that will be based on Intel’s Atom processor to consumers and businesses. He went on to say that with Android as the leading smartphone OS, globally and advancements in computing technology, we see tremendous opportunity for the converged devices market. As per a report by Pocketnow, it seems that both brands have already have their first smartphone in the works, as an image of an unnamed Motorola handset running on Ice Cream Sandwich has surfaced.

The report states that they have received an image and a few details of Motorola’s first Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich handset. They note, “This unnamed device will also be one of Motorola's first pieces of Intel-powered hardware, running the silicon giant's new mobile Medfield platform.” They go on to add that as of now, details are quite slim regarding this smartphone but it does sport a new version of the MotoBlur user interface. This handset is expected to make an official appearance at the Mobile World Conference 2012 event that is going to take place later this month in Barcelona. They end by stating, “One thing we do know is that its camera is expected to be a major selling point, offering instant-on capabilities as well as 15 frame-per-second burst capture.”

From the image above, we can see that Motorola has opted for a different shade, as opposed to the black metal finish, which we saw on the RAZR and a slew of other devices. But, the major talking point is the operating software found here, as Motorola seems to incorporate more of their features in the user interface than that of the stock Ice Cream Sandwich. But, Motorola does have a tendency to add that bit extra, while creating their custom interfaces for the handsets.
