The Galaxy Note mini-tab found quite a bit of success the world over. The large mobile handset that could have passed off as a small tablet offered users from all walks of life a unique feature set that was apt for business, media or any other function. But now it’s time for the inevitable upgrade and according to the latest rumours making the rounds, the Galaxy Note II is apparently in the works.
In the natural evolution of mobile handsets that sell enough to make the company think of the next gen model, we can expect a better device. Of course the specs, as of now are a mere speculation and rumours with Samsung keeping mum about the whole situation.
According to Ubuntulife.com, the next generation of the Galaxy Note is would feature a Super AMOLED 5.5-inch display with 360 pixel density. The presumed Galaxy Note II is also said to feature a faster CPU and more memory. That will be quite a step up from the current model. As mobile processors get faster and more powerful, it’s anyone’s guess what the new Note would take on under the hood, but the site states that we’re looking at a dual-core Exynos 5250 processor with 1.5GB of RAM under the hood.
October seems to be the month when the device is expected to launch, if we are to go by the tech grapevine. In four short months Samsung could be gearing up for the next big mobile launch, the operative word being ‘big’. With a 5.5-inch display, taking it up a notch from the 5.3-inch found on the current model, we’re possibly looking at a larger device, unless Samsung sticks to the same dimensions and simply reduces the bezel even further, like they have on their sexy new Smart LED and Plasma TVs. ![]() It's a larger display, but hopefully not a larger phone (Mock up)
Ubuntulife also spoke of the Galaxy S III having a large influence on the possible upcoming Note II, possibly in terms of design and features. That’s something to really look forward to. It could mean a much sleeker, sexier form factor as well the incorporation of Samsung’s new Smart technology options that come with the S III – S Beam, Smart Stay eye tracking, Smart Voice, etc. Naturally we're also expecting that the Note II will come with Google's latest iteration of the Android OS - Jelly Bean out-of-the-box.
In a nutshell, here’s what to expect:
Lets not speculate on pricing, but needless to say, being affordable is out of the question, judging the specs and the current rate of the Dollar on Indian soil.
It will be a curious thing to see how, if it’s true, this October launch will affect Apple, as their next-gen iPhone is due to be out a little earlier, in September possibly. Samsung will serious have to up its game to stay on top. Stay tuned to this space for more information on the possible Galaxy Note II expected in October. |
