HTC Edge changes its name for the last time, now called One X

It appears that HTC can’t seem to make up their mind about their upcoming quad-core beast. They started by calling it the Edge, which they later changed to the Endeavour and now, just a few weeks from Mobile World Congress, they’ve changed it again to the One X, and according to sources, they’ll be sticking with this. There was also some rumour about the phone being called the Supreme, but it now seems that name will be reserved for another phone, the Ville perhaps?

Looking back, HTC had applied for a trademark in Europe, sometime late last year for a concept design phone, which was called the HTC One at the time. The phone had a near, edge-to-edge glass (which could be why the HTC named the actual phone the Edge to begin with) and a hinged design, which mostly won’t be making it to the final product. If the One X is, in fact the same as the Edge that was rumoured months ago, then expect it to sport a Tegra 3 quad-core processor, a 4.7-inch HD screen and mot probably an 8MP shooter. The phone will also most likely be running Sense 4.0 and will come with ICS.

Slash Gear is now reporting that the HTC Ville will also get a name change and would be called the HTC One S. It appears as though HTC is planning on a new series for their 2012 line up, but we still don’t know what’s the common link between these two, which has put them in the same “One” series. More will be revealed soon at MWC, so hold tight.
