HTC Officially Announces Evo 3D and Evo View 4G Tablet

The 3D smartphone category just got a little more competitive now. LG’s first 3D smartphone, the Optimus 3D has not arrived here in India but looking at all the specs, it’s hard to doubt the handset’s capabilities. Now HTC has jumped into the scene with the Evo 3D Smartphone and the Evo View 4G tablet.

While the Evo 3D has currently been tied up with network carrier Sprint in the US, the smartphone will be having a GSM version as well. The Evo 3D is powered by a 1.2 GHz dual-core processor and gets a boost for graphics from the Adreno 205 GPU. The smartphone has the following specifications:

  • 4.3-inch 3D LCD screen with a resolution of 540 x 960 pixels
  • 3G, Wi-Fi, WiMAX, DLNA, A-GPS
  • Bluetooth 3.0 with A2DP and EDR
  • Two 5 Megapixel front facing cameras
  • 1.3 Megapixel secondary camera
  • 1 GB RAM, memory expandable up to 32 GB
  • HDMI Port
  • Stereo FM Radio
  • 3.5 mm audio jack with SRS virtual surround sound

The Evo 3D runs on Android Gingerbread 2.3 (let’s hope they let users upgrade to 2.4) with  HTC’s Sense UI on top. There are the usual smartphone sensor features like digital compass, gyroscope and more. Plus the smartphone supports media formats like MP3, MP4, XviD, H.264 and WMV along with others.

For now there’s no mention on what the smartphone has been priced at and we definitely don’t know when it will come to India, but we keep our fingers crossed on this one.

The Evo View 4G tablet has been tied up with Sprint as well and is something like the HTC Flyer albeit with CDMA. The tablet runs on Android Gingerbread 2.4 (with HTC Sense UI) and is powered by a 1.5 GHz processor. Here are the specifications of the Evo View 4G:

  • 7-inch LCD screen with a 600 x 1024 pixels resolution
  • 3G, Wi-Fi, WiMAX, DLNA, A-GPS
  • Bluetooth 3.0 with A2DP
  • 5 Megapixel camera
  • 1.3 Megapixel secondary camera
  • Memory expandable up to 32 GB

So while the specifications look good, we’ll have to wait for quite some time (looking at the fact that we’ve just taken our baby steps into 3G) for the Evo View 4G tablet in India.
