HTC’s popular smartphone, the Sensation XE, has started receiving the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich update in India. One of our Twitter followers, @abedi75, sent us a screenshot of his HTC Sensation XE running Android 4.0.3, and stated that the ICS update has started rolling out in India. The update was available over the air but he had to check manually if updates were available for his handset. ![]() Android 4.0.3
HTC launched the Sensation XE smartphone featuring Dr Dre’s Beats Audio late last year, a couple of months after the global unveiling of the product. It was priced at Rs.35,490 (MRP) at launch, with a market price of Rs.33,990. The phone can be found in the market for roughly Rs.29,990 these days. ![]() The Sensation XE is finally getting ICS treatment
While audio was the high point of this smartphone, HTC packed-in some other neat features too. The main features of the HTC Sensation XE include its 4.3-inch qHD S-LCD display. The smartphone is powered by a 1.5GHz dual-core processor, Qualcomm’s MSM8260 chipset and featured the Android 2.3 OS (Gingerbread) at the time of its launch, and of course, HTC’s Sense UI.
It also sported an 8 MP camera at the rear, along with dual LED flash for still images and a VGA front-facing camera. The Sensation XE is capable of recording videos at 1080p resolution. The phone comes with a 1,730 mAh battery, allowing users to listen, watch, speak and browse for longer durations. Connectivity options are aplenty with this new handset - it comes with quad-band GSM, dual-band 3G with HSPA support, Wi-Fi, GPS, Bluetooth 3.0 and FM radio. ![]() Beats by Dr Dre in-ear headphones bundled
To better complement the HTC Sensation XE with the Beats Audio technology, HTC bundled in a pair of Beats by Dr. Dre in-ear headphones. The headphones feature a remote control, using which users can pause, play or skip through tracks and answer/end calls.
We reviewed the Sensation XE when it was launched - we felt that it didn’t offer great bang for the buck. It’s the same case even now and there are currently better options available for its price. In the end, the Sensation XE was an improvement over its predecessor in many ways and you got a lot more for your money than you did with the old one. There were quite a few who bought the product. Do any of you own one? If yes, do let us know if you’re getting the ICS update for your phone. |

We’ve already established that the Lumia 720 is Nokia’s best effort as far as Windows Phone 8 handsets go. This could soon change once the Lumia 925 hits markets, but as it stands now, the Lumia 720 offers the best blend of features and performance, wrapped in a beautiful package that’s quite affordable.
