HTC Sensation gets bleached, will ship with Android 4.0

The news comes from a Dutch site which states that the HTC Sensation will come in a new colour, Ice White and will be available on Mach 1st. What’s more it will also come with Android 4.0 or Ice Cream Sandwich out-of-the-box. A quick look at the image and you can tell that it looks identical to the Sensation XE, only without the Beats branding. This is the original Sensation we’re talking about so the specifications will remain the same.

HTC also plans to update the other Sensation phones like the XE and XL to Ice Cream Sandwich as well, however there’s no time or date given for this update. Like always, the update will be available over the air so you should get a prompt once it arrives in your country. The update will also be rolling out in waves, so we could expect this around the same time as the launch of the white Sensation. We don’t have too many details at this point about whether the new version of Sense will be coming to this phone, so we’ll just have to wait it out.

The Ice White Sensation will sport the same qHD, 4.3-inch screen, 8MP camera and a 1.2GHz dual-core processor. What I don’t get is that with the XE already retailing in the market for a slightly higher price than the Sensation, why would anyone still buy the old one?  The Sensation XE is much better than the old one in terms of features and performance and is not overly expensive, so in a way, you’re getting a lot more for your money plus, it’s available in white for all those who care about the colour. The only way for HTC to sell units of the Sensation is to drop the price well below the Galaxy S II. Only then, would it be worth considering. We really don’t have a problem with companies releasing refresh models of their popular phones, Samsung does and so does Sony Ericsson. But if you are planning on a refresh, at least make sure to change a little more than just the colour of the phone, else no one’s interested.
