Huawei to unveil Emotion UI on June 9th, coming to existing handsets by July

| by Aaron Almeida | Smartphones

Over the past few months, Android handset manufacturer, Huawei, has made a big splash in the smartphone segment by launching two flagship handsets boasting incredible capabilities. The brand is not sitting back on this success and is reportedly set to launch their own user interface called Emotion UI.

Could we see a quad-core handset from Huawei at this year's MWC?

A new user interface in the works from Huawei

Following in the footsteps of other big Android manufacturers like Samsung who have their TouchWiz user interface and HTC with their Sense UI, Huawei too aims to lace Android with their own user interface. As per a report by Unwired View who have obtained the information via mobile.163.com, the author states, “ICS is also presumably Huawei’s ‘target’ for its Emotion UI, although details are scarce at the moment. The grand unveiling is set for June 9, and the interface will become available sometime in July. Still a mystery is whether Huawei plans to issue updates to already shipping Android smartphones in order to add the Emotion UI. However, it seems almost certain that all Huawei Android devices that will ship in or after July will come bearing this new overlay.”

As of now, there are no screen shots or leaked images as to what this upcoming Emotion UI from Huawei will look like but apparently the brand has described it as being emotional, simple and smart.

Huawei, in the past have previously gained popularity for being a brand that had built budget level Android devices but at this year’s Consumer Electronics Show they unveiled a smartphone called the Ascend P1 which was really slim. Later on, the brand raised the curtains on the Ascend D Quad, a quad-core smartphone that directly competes with the recently announced Samsung Galaxy S III and the HTC One X that was announced at the Mobile World Congress event held in Barcelona this year.

Having a user interface that is custom built and designed well can be a great experience for users as it allows one a lot of ease of access. However, as in the past, some user interfaces like the Blur featured on Motorola handsets can also take away the user experience of the OS as it is deeply integrated in it depriving one of the essence of the Android OS.

We’ve already established that the Lumia 720 is Nokia’s best effort as far as Windows Phone 8 handsets go. This could soon change once the Lumia 925 hits markets, but as it stands now, the Lumia 720 offers the best blend of features and performance, wrapped in a beautiful package that’s quite affordable.
