iPhone 4S May Have 8 MP OmniVision Cam

| by Ashish Koshy | Smartphones

Time for another one of those Apple rumours. While earlier stories about the next iteration of the iPhone had us pondering over a large touchscreen and a separate flash, the latest rumour is that the iPhone 4S will have an 8 MP OmniVision camera.

Rumours Ahoy!

Rumours Ahoy!

According to sources, the iPhone 4S will go into production from August and is expected to launch somewhere in September. Also the handset’s 3G and CDMA chips are rumoured to be from Qualcomm. As far as the camera is concerned, we told you about Sony possibly making the next iPhone’s camera sensor. However, it now seems that while the sensor is being provided by OmniVision, the lens will be made by Largan Precision.

As usual, take all these rumours with a pinch of salt because not one of these statements have been confirmed. They make for a good read.

We’ve already established that the Lumia 720 is Nokia’s best effort as far as Windows Phone 8 handsets go. This could soon change once the Lumia 925 hits markets, but as it stands now, the Lumia 720 offers the best blend of features and performance, wrapped in a beautiful package that’s quite affordable.
