‘Lara Croft: The Guardian of Light’ heading to the Xperia PLAY in November

| by Roydon Cerejo | Smartphones

Sony Ericsson’s Xperia PLAY is a fun little device if you’re a gaming freak, and now Square Enix has announced a tiny surprise for all owners of this game-centric droid. Come November 2011, the hit co-op game is heading to the Xperia PLAY, which makes it the first Android phone to receive it. We are not sure how long it will remain exclusive to the PLAY, before it’s available in the marketplace for other handsets. Both companies will also be bringing in more games to this platform in the near future. There’s no word on the pricing of the game as of now.

By bringing big game titles to the mobile handset, Sony Ericsson hopes to capitalize on this opportunity and maybe move some more products off the shelves. Despite the unique feature set of the PLAY, the handset hasn’t been doing too well in terms of sales. Coming back to the handset, the game will be mapped to control pad on the PLAY, thereby allowing users to have a better experience while on the move. Hopefully, Square Enix will retain the co-op portion of the game when it launches.
