Late-August launch for Huawei Ascend D Quad, D Quad XL

| by Anuradha Shetty | Smartphones

Reports confirm that the Huawei Ascend D Quad and the Ascend D Quad XL will be launched later this month, albeit first in China. At the moment, however, there is no detail on the pricing of the two phones.

When Huawei announced its Ascend D Quad at the Mobile World Congress event held in Barcelona, the brand looked prepped to be a smartphone manufacturer to be reckoned with. The handset was to be launched to take on the likes of the HTC One X and the recently launched Samsung Galaxy S III, both of which feature a quad-core processor, which also happens to be the main feature of the Ascend D Quad. A June report, however, had confirmed that the company pushed the production of the smartphone to August, citing problems with the system-on-chip.

The smartphone’s prowess is enhanced by Huawei's proprietary power management technology, which provides a longer battery life of up to 30 percent compared to industry average by adjusting power consumption according to usage needs. It also ensures higher chipset performance and efficiency by maintaining a low-chip temperature.

Huawei Ascend D Quad is powered by a Quad-core 1.5GHz processor and is fuelled by a 1800 mAh battery. The smartphone runs Android OS v4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich).
