Leaked Nexus 4 manual confirms 8GB, 16GB storage capacities

| by Aaron Almeida | Smartphones

Since the leaks related to the Nexus 4 handset started pouring in, there has been a lot of speculation about the onboard storage capacity of the handset. A listing on a retail website reported earlier displayed that it was available in only an 8GB version. However, according to a report by Engadget, the manual of the handset with the codename E960 has leaked online. We can see all the features of the handset as well as the storage capacities listed -- 8GB and 16GB.

As per the report, the author states, “The manuals confirm it is going to be called the Nexus 4, and that along with the 8GB version we've seen there will definitely be a 16GB edition available. As you can see above, it also includes an induction coil for wireless charging and excludes any microSD slots for additional storage.”

From the manual of the E960, we can also see that it will indeed be launched with the Nexus 4 branding.

As per an earlier report, the Nexus 4 recently made its way to pre-orders on a noted retailer’s website. Apart from the listing, there are a few revelations about the handset. When Google takes the stage to announce it at the Android event, this handset will probably face the case of been there, seen that.

From the listing, we can see that the handset will feature a 1.5GHz Snapdragon S4 Pro quad-core processor and 2GB of RAM. As this handset is based on the LG Optimus G, these specifications are similar as the one’s found on LG’s flagship handset. The smartphone comes equipped with a 4.7-inch LCD touchscreen that sports a resolution of 1280 x 768 pixels.

As for connectivity, the handset will feature 2G quad-band and tri-band 3G with no LTE capabilities. The handset also features Wi-Fi, NFC, and Bluetooth. The Nexus 4 is listed as having a camera of more than 8MP size. It is more likely to have an 8MP camera and a front-facing one. The rear camera also has Autofocus, LED flash, Touch focus, geo-tagging, and face detection capabilities. The primary camera can record video in 1080p, and the listing states that these capabilities are ideal for making mini movies on the go, and now devices can capture DVD-like or even HD quality video clips.

As for the operating system, there is a matter of confusion here as the retailer has listed the handset to run on Android v4.2 in the heading while in the specifications of the device, the handset appears to run on Android v4.1.2 Jelly Bean. This could be an error on the part of the retailer as the handset is expected to launch running the next operating system.

As of now, with the leaked manual already making its way online, the only thing left to know is when the device will be officially announced as Google has cancelled its event that was slated to take place today.
