Leaked S Voice app from S III works on any ICS device

| by Roydon Cerejo | Smartphones

One of Galaxy S III’s big features was S Voice, a Siri-like assistant that understood basic commands and would automate tasks for you. Now as it turns out, S Voice is merely an application that’s not specific to the S III or isn’t tailormade to run on S III’s hardware alone. After the initial firmware of the S III was leaked, developers managed to extract the S Voice APK from the firmware and it is now available for everyone to try out. This will only work on an ICS-based phone, so if you own a Nexus S or a Galaxy Nexus or are using a custom ROM, then you can give it a try. We were able to run it on the HTC One X and other than a few crashes here and there, it seems to work fine. When going through the initial set-up, just make sure you don’t change any of the default settings and everything should work fine. If you keep getting a “Network Error” message, then you’ll have to change some settings on the system files. This thread would be a good place to start. Download the APK from this thread here

A quick recap of the S III - the phone is equipped with some of the latest tech to make it out of the mobile phone sector. From a 1.4 GHz quad-core Exynos processor (1GB RAM) running on Android 4.0 i.e. Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS) flaunting the latest edition of Samsung’s TouchWiz UI, to NFC support, the device is quite feature-packed. Its 2100 mAh battery should also provide users with quite a bit of usage as well.

We’ve already established that the Lumia 720 is Nokia’s best effort as far as Windows Phone 8 handsets go. This could soon change once the Lumia 925 hits markets, but as it stands now, the Lumia 720 offers the best blend of features and performance, wrapped in a beautiful package that’s quite affordable.
