Lenovo unveils waterproof Android smartphone A660

Lenovo has raised the curtains on its first attempt at a waterproof, Android-running smartphone, the Lenovo A660. As reported by zol.com.cn, Lenovo’s A660 smartphone is armed with an IP67 certification, translating to the fact that the phone is both waterproof as well as dustproof. The Lenovo A660 can be submerged up to one meter under water for almost 30 minutes at a stretch. To the effect, the word “Waterproof” is etched at the front-bottom bar on the phone.

The Lenovo A660 smartphone sports a 4-inch WVGA display with a resolution of 800x480 pixels. The screen on the A660 is made of Corning Gorilla glass. It has a 5MP rear camera and a VGA front-facing camera. The Lenovo A660 is 10.5mm thin.  Among other specifications of the phone that  are available at the moment, the Lenovo A660 runs Ice Cream Sandwich version of the Android OS and is powered by a 1GHz dual-core processor. It is fuelled by a 1500mAh battery. The A660 has dual-SIM capabilities.

The ICS-running Lenovo A660, according to the report, will be available in a range of colours. At the moment, however, there is no mention of the phone's price tag or its date of availability. 

 

We recently reviewed the Xperia Go, another waterproof smartphone in the market. The product is IP67-certified, which means it is dustproof and waterproof up to one meter under water for almost 30 minutes at a stretch. The display glass is scratch-resistant and the back panel is watertight. The Xperia Go features a TFT capacitive touchscreen display measuring 3.5 inches with a 480 x 320 pixel resolution. It sports a 5MP camera and the Xperia Go is powered by a 1GHz NovaThor U8500 Dual-core Cortex A9 processor. 

 

Lenovo, yesterday announced the launch of the world’s lightest business Ultrabook – the ThinkPad X1 Carbon, highlighting 20 years of ThinkPad innovation and kicking off the ThinkPad brand’s 20th anniversary celebrations. Made from carbon fibre, the X1 Carbon is the latest notebook from the ThinkPad stable. This new notebook features the latest 3rd generation Intel Core processor. It comes with Intel Turbo Boost 2.0 and Lenovo’s RapidResume and RapidConnect technology to enhance performance. It weighs less than three pounds and features a high resolution 14-inch display on a 13-inch laptop design, while also offering a multi-gesture glass surface touchpad, HD face-tracking camera, dual array microphones and Dolby-tuned audio for improved sound quality.
