LG announces the new LG Optimus Hub

| by Karan Shah | Smartphones

LG have announced their new phone, the LG Optimus Hub, according to a report by GSMArena. The new smartphone will replace the company’s earlier flagship model, the LG Optimus One. It will run on Google’s Android 2.3.4 Gingerbread operating system.

Earlier nicknamed the LG Univa E510, the Optimus Hub comes with a 3.5-inch HVGA LCD capacitive touchscreen, an 800 MHz CPU and 512 MB of RAM. While we have no qualms about the screen size and the other specs, we do have our doubts if the 800 MHz CPU will actually appeal to potential buyers. Wait, there’s further disappointment. The CPU has an ARMv6 core, which means that the phone will not be able to run apps that require ARMv7 as a minimum. For example, the Adobe Flash Player and Firefox for Android apps require ARMv7. As part of the specs, the phone will also include a 5 megapixel camera, GPS, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 3.0 and 3G with 3.6Mbps HSDPA. No details besides these have been mentioned, yet.

Specific availability for Indian shores hasn’t been announced as of now, but the Optimus Hub is slated for a launch this October and will cost Rs. 12,814 (€199). From the looks of it, the LG Optimus Hub is extremely similar to the Galaxy Ace that’s currently out in the market. It’s interesting to see if LG’s new Optimus Hub can be as successful as its predecessor.

If you’ve used any of Samsung’s flagships in the past, you’ll be right at home with the new S4. We quite liked the handset during our brief encounter with it a few weeks back and after using it for about a week, we have come to like it even more.
