LG Optimus One Gingerbread Update Coming Soon

Looks like the Gingerbread update to the LG Optimus One P500 is not so far from rolling out after all. We’d previously reported that the update might show up somewhere around the end of May, and that has now been somewhat reinforced by the appearance of an unofficial video. ![]() Optimus Two Point Three?
Here's the backstory - LG's Facebook representative initially claimed that the Optimus One wouldn't be getting the newly-released Android version 2.3 because it had a 1GHz processor requirement, something the phone's 600MHz processor couldn't match. However, the Android Lead had other ideas. He got onto Twitter and stated no such requirement existed, and that he'd know about it if it did. The incident was a rather embarrassing one for LG and they quickly backtracked on their announcement by making a brief statement on their website that they'd evaluate upgrading their phones to Gingerbread - but only after Google confirmed the hardware requirements and released the source code.
