Meizu MX proves better than Galaxy S III in benchmark results

| by Aaron Almeida | Smartphones

The build up to the new flagship smartphone from Samsung has been unparalleled, since no other handset has been able to match up to it. This was one of the most highly anticipated device launches of 2012 and the brand pulled no stops while revealing the slim quad-core beast that is the Galaxy S III. Shortly after it had been launched, when all the hype around its announcement was still floating around, websites began running benchmarks of this smartphone. To say that this handset ruled the roost when it came to performances is an understatement, as it beat almost all of the other Android devices launched yet. However, that is until the Meizu MX came along.

As per a report by GSMArena, to quote the author, “Sporting exactly the same Exynos 4 Quad chipset as the new Samsung flagship, the latest Meizu MX scored 12,140 at AnTuTu, beating the Galaxy S III with its 11,878 and thrashing the Tegra 3 version of the HTC One X, which managed to score just 9,989. The most interesting bit here is that the Meizu MX quad-core managed to outdo the new Samsung flagship in the CPU and memory speed parts of the benchmark.” However, the only area where the Samsung Galaxy S III beat the Meizu MX was in the graphics department even though the latter features a lower resolution display.

If internal speeds are something one is looking out for in a smartphone, then the Meizu MX can be considered as an alternative. However, the handset is not available in most areas of the globe, so purchasing it would be a rather difficult task. That being said, the Samsung Galaxy S III is no slow poke, either and if one is interested in picking it up, here is a quick look at its highlighted features.

  • Android 4.0 with TouchWiz
  • 1.4 GHz quad-core Exynos 4212 processor
  • 4.8-inch HD Super AMOLED display with a resolution of 1280 x 720
  • 8MP camera with AF, LED flash, BSI sensor and 1080p HD video recording

  • 1GB RAM

If you’ve used any of Samsung’s flagships in the past, you’ll be right at home with the new S4. We quite liked the handset during our brief encounter with it a few weeks back and after using it for about a week, we have come to like it even more.
