More BlackBerry N-Series handset images surface

| by Aaron Almeida | Smartphones

A few days ago, there was an image spotted of a BlackBerry L-Series handset pictured alongside two N-Series handsets giving us a glimpse of what Research in Motion will showcase at the end of this month. A new batch of images has just emerged showing a BlackBerry N-Series handset QWERTY, which will be known as the X 10 when it hits the market.

From these new images, we can see that unlike previous leaks, they are a lot clearer in comparison and this time around we can also see that the handset is fully functional and running the upcoming BlackBerry 10 OS.

The website that acquired the images, N4BB, does not shed any light on what specifications will be found here, but upon launch, we shall know more.

There had been specifications that were leaked in the past about the L-Series device, which will be known as Z10 when it hits the shelves. Some of the highlighted features of this all-touch device include a 1.5GHz TI OMAP 4470 processor and support for quad band radio featuring HSPA+/UMTS, quad band GSM/GPRS and quad band LTE bands 2, 4, 5, 13, 17. It will also have a 4.2-inch screen with a resolution of 1280 x 768 pixels, giving it a pixel density of 356 ppi. It will come with 2GB RAM and 16GB of internal storage with a hot swappable microSD card slot. It will also support all the standard Wi-Fi networks and GPS with A-GPS. The shooters on the device are an 8 megapixel camera with auto focus and a 2 megapixel front facing camera. The cameras will have 1080p video recording. All of this will be powered by an 1800 mAh battery.

As far as the X10 is concerned, as mentioned earlier, nothing much is known yet. But we expect more leaks to drop in the near future. The BlackBerry X10 shared a striking resemblance to HTC’s full QWERTY phone – the HTC ChaCha. The reveal of these phones significantly increases the number of BB10 devices that may be announced during RIM’s BB10 event at the end of January.

It was previously reported that Research In Motion is set to showcase its upcoming operating system—BlackBerry 10—in all its glory. The company has started sending out invitations for the launch events of the operating system, which will be held on January 30, 2013. The launch events will be held in cities around the world, including New York, Toronto, London, Paris, Johannesburg and Dubai.

With the event just a few short weeks away, we will see if Research in Motion unveils three handsets or just two for its upcoming BlackBerry 10 platform.

Now we only hope that the launch of these devices is sooner rather than later.

 7.0

We’ve already established that the Lumia 720 is Nokia’s best effort as far as Windows Phone 8 handsets go. This could soon change once the Lumia 925 hits markets, but as it stands now, the Lumia 720 offers the best blend of features and performance, wrapped in a beautiful package that’s quite affordable.
