More than 1,000 popular apps and region-specific content coming with BB 10

BlackBerry has revealed the lineup of popular mobile apps and brands that have committed to the company’s new BlackBerry 10 platform. The company has stated that 1,000 top app developers would be making their applications available on the BlackBerry World store when BB 10 launches. The platform will also have region-specific content ready on its app store at launch.

BlackBerry is touting their new OS as having the strongest content offering of any first-generation mobile platform at launch. The developers partnering BlackBerry to bring the apps range from social media and games to sports, productivity, business and lifestyle.

He added, “We have focused on bringing the most relevant apps to BlackBerry 10 – whether they are global leaders in their categories, or whether they are regional must-have apps. We are thrilled and want to thank all the developers that have shown such strong support for a platform before it has commercially launched. We share in their excitement and belief in BlackBerry 10.”

In the Business and Productivity category, the company has announced the availability of apps like Bloomberg, BMC Service Desk & Remedy, Box, Cisco WebEx Meetings, Citrix Podio, CNBC, Dictionary.com, Emirates NBD, Harmon.ie, IBM Notes Traveler, ING DIRECT Canada, Nat West, RBC, RBS, SAP, TD Bank Group and Thomson Reuters.

Under the Lifestyle segment, AccuWeather, Air Canada, Air France, DStv Mobile, Dr. Oetker Rezeptideen, Easyjet, FlightAware, Flixster, KLM, Manulife Financial,  President’s Choice Recipe Box, SkyScanner, Spotcast, StubHub, The Weather Channel, The Weather Network, United Airlines, Wikitude, WisePilot, Yellow Pages Group and Zara will have apps for BlackBerry 10.

Multimedia apps such as Absolute Radio, Al Jazeera, Allociné, Astral Radio, Top Gear, BubblePix, Channel 4, Deezer, E! Online, eMusic, Europe 1, Kiss Kube, MTV Italia and Nobex Radio will be seen alongside the likes of NOS, N-TV Nachrichten, Occipital 360 Panorama, OxygenLive, Pacemaker, PaperCamera, Rdio, Shahid.net,  SiriusXM, Slacker, Songza, SoundHound, TuneIn, and Volu.me.

Those who like to keep abreast with the latest news from around the world can choose from amongst AFP News, CBC (News, Radio, Music, Hockey Night in Canada), Economist, El Mundo, El Pais, Grazia Italy, Handlesbaltt, MailOnline, Maxim, News24, New York Times, NU.nl, PressReader, The Globe and Mail, The Guardian, The Independent, The London Evening Standard, USA Today, The Wall Street Journal and Wirtschaftswoche. Amazon Kindle will also be available on the BlackBerry World store.

Social networking junkies have the option of using any apps from amongst Badoo, Facebook, Foursquare, LinkedIn, ooVoo, Skype, Tuenti Social Messenger, Twitter, Viber, Whatsapp and Xing. Sports fans are also covered thanks to apps like CBSSports.com, ESPN ScoreCenter, Goal.com, L’equipe, Maple Leafs Mobile App and Raptors Mobile App, MLB At Bat, NHL GameCenter, PGA Tour, Runtastic, Sports Tracker and UFC.
 
BB10 will launch with some of the top games in the market. Games published by 10tons like Sparkle, Joining Hands, Azkend, King Oddball, Azkend2, Ironworm, Dragon Portal and Boom Brigade 2 will be available, along with Disney Mobile games such as Where's My Water? and Where's My Perry?. Electronic Arts have ported a great selection of their top games to the platform. Mass Effect Infiltrator, Flight Control Rocket, The Sims FreePlay and MONOPOLY Millionaire are some of the EA games in the offing.

 

BB10 has managed to gain the support of other popular games as well. Galaxy on Fire, Alpha Zero, Jetpack Joyride, Fruit Ninja, Square One, InXile, Sonic 4: Episode 1, Cut the Rope, and Cut the Rope: Experiments will also be featured on BB World. Rovio will bring most of its Angry Birds franchise to the platform, while Gameloft’s top games, including Asphalt 7: Heat, The Amazing Spider-Man, Modern Combat 4: Zero Hour, and The Dark Knight Rises will be available for download.

BlackBerry has also announced content partnerships with leading music labels, movie studios and TV broadcasters, which will bring multimedia content to the BlackBerry World store.
