The quad-core beasts keep pouring in, the latest one being from ZTE. The Era is powered by Nvidia’s Tegra 3 SoC and measures a skinny 7.8mm in depth, making it one of the thinnest quad-core smartphones when it launches in the second half of this year. The phone is equipped with an NVIDIA Icera 450 HSPA+ modem and also features a 4.3-inch QHD screen with a resolution of 960 x 540. The Era will run Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) and going by the press image, it doesn’t seem like ZTE have messed around too much with the stock interface and we are glad they didn’t. ![]() A new 'era' for ZTE
The Era will have just 8GB of built-in memory, however you can expand it by adding a microSD card. It will also support 3G speeds up to 21Mbps, UMA (Unlicensed Mobile Access) and Bluetooth v3.0. The ZTE Era is the flagship device launch from ZTE at Mobile World Congress and is part of a series of 8 new devices unveiled at the event, all delivering significant advances in power, high definition multimedia capabilities and design. “The numbers speak for themselves. With 50 percent growth in handset shipments and 400 percent growth in smartphone shipments, we are confident that we are entering a new era in the mobile terminal market." said Mr. He Shiyou, Executive Vice President and Head of the Terminals Division at ZTE.
The ZTE Era will be launched in Europe and China in the second half of 2012. More details on the phone will be unveiled in due time, so stay tuned.
