Nexus-branded LG smartphone may be available in two colour options

| by Aaron Almeida | Smartphones

LG and Google may host an event on October 29 to announce the Google Nexus-branded LG smartphone bases on the Optimus G. GSMArena now reports via The Verge that the handset is listed on an internal database of Carphone Warehouse, a popular smartphone retailer. As seen in the listing, the co-manufactured smartphone dubbed the Nexus 4 will be available in two colour options – black and white.

As per the report on GSMArena, “The rumors that the next Nexus device is going to be LG-made, got yet more backing today as an LG Nexus 4 was spotted in Carphone Warehouse’s inventory listing. In fact we’ve got two different items in the list – one for each of the available color versions. Of course, the listing could be simply a placeholder, inspired by the previous rumors and might not mean anything.”

The Nexus 4 is believed to be based on the recently announced flagship smartphone from LG, the Optimus G. This handset possesses some neat features such as a Qualcomm 1.5GHz quad-core Snapdragon S4 Pro SoC, 2GB DDR RAM, a slim profile as well a new touchscreen panel technology as a result of the vertically-integrated development process.

Here is a quick look at some of the main features of the LG Optimus G:

  • 4.7-inch True HD IPS+ display with a resolution of 1280 x 768 pixels
  • LTE, 3G, EDGE/GPRS and Wi-Fi capabilities for net access, NFC
  • GPS, A-GPS
  • Bluetooth 4.0, USB 2.0
  • 13MP camera with LED flash and 1.3MP secondary camera up front
  • 32GB Internal memory
  • MHL, DLNA

LG claims that with the powerful quad-core Snapdragon S4 Pro processor as its base, and the best technologies in the industry for enhanced viewing and longer battery life, LG adds the finishing touches on the Optimus G with a sleek design and innovative UX features.

Technologies such as the Zerogap Touch and True HD IPSPLUS Display from LG Innotek and LG Display have been clubbed in the Optimus G. The new battery from LG Chem, which has 2100mAh capacity, has a life of 800 cycles. A high-resolution, compact 13MP camera is employed in the Optimus G to offer the photos without pixilation.

If you’ve used any of Samsung’s flagships in the past, you’ll be right at home with the new S4. We quite liked the handset during our brief encounter with it a few weeks back and after using it for about a week, we have come to like it even more.
