Nokia Belle Feature Pack 1 update rolling out for 701, 700 and 603

| by Roydon Cerejo | Smartphones

A few weeks back, we had reported Nokia’s plans to launch the Bell Feature Pack 1 (FP1) update for the 603, 700 and 701. Today, Nokia Asia has tweeted that the FP1 update is available now and will start rolling out for the aforementioned three phones. The update is available via Nokia Suite and will probably be rolling out in waves so if you don’t have it yet, don’t worry, you’ll be getting the update soon. The update which was supposed to roll out in March was delayed and Nokia's finally released it now. This is the same FP1 we saw in the Nokia 808 PureView that will be one of the first phones to come with the update pre-installed.

Update it now!

Update it now!

The update brings with it some cool addition like an overclock on the processor front so the phone should be snappier. The degree of overclock will depend on the phone itself. You also get some sound enhancements like Dolby Digital Plus and Dolby Headphone. Nokia has added about 20 new widgets and better browser and some minor tweaks and changes to the multitasking and notification area. A couple of users have already received the update and are already enjoying the benefits of Feature Pack 1. In fact, when we reviewed the 603, we had already received the update, which was a week back so chances are that if you have one of these phones in India, you’ve already got the update. Symbian on its own was definitely a powerful platform. With the advent of the other operating systems, it did lose a lot of steam, but it's still chugging on with these updates. One of the main problems was the limited app store, but besides that, the interface, the media and everything else was pretty much top notch. Symbian wasn’t too optimized either and it did face a similar fate as Samsung’s Bada operating system. For the in-depth details on the newly added features of Feature Pack 1, be sure to check our full review of the 603.

We’ve already established that the Lumia 720 is Nokia’s best effort as far as Windows Phone 8 handsets go. This could soon change once the Lumia 925 hits markets, but as it stands now, the Lumia 720 offers the best blend of features and performance, wrapped in a beautiful package that’s quite affordable.
