Nokia, Deadmau5 team up for Windows Phone event in London

| by Aaron Almeida | Smartphones

Deadmau5 is one of the best progressive house artists in recent times, and his concerts are nothing short of epic. Nokia is teaming up with Deadmau5 once again, and it appears that they have something exciting to showcase in the UK on November 28, 2012.

This information was revealed through Nokia UK’s YouTube page with the description, "This Is Nokia Lumia #Switch 28.11.12". This reveals that the new marketing campaign for Nokia Lumia has been named Switch, and the date of the event is 28.11.12.

The video shows a Nokia Lumia handset, and then it zooms in to a Deadmau5 video playing on the screen. The track played in this teaser video is Channel 42 from Deadmau5’s latest album, Album Title Goes Here released on September 24, 2012.

Nokia, after its introduction of the Lumia line-up of handsets, has launched an aggressive marketing campaign, and is clearly aiming to propel itself to the top of the smartphone market. This is not the first time Nokia and Deadmau5 are teaming up. The last time they did, the event was nothing short of extraordinary.

Last year, in December, Nokia hosted what could easily be described as one of the biggest (literally as well as figuratively) launch parties in London. Deadmau5, one of the world's leading DJs in the electro and house genre, was brought in to launch the Lumia 800, last year’s flagship Windows Phone from Nokia. A spectacularly large 4D light show at the event was focused on the 120-meter high Millbank Tower. A total of 16 projectors using 4D projection mapping technology were placed over 300 meters away in the front of the building. In order for the visuals to be as vibrant as they were, the entire front of the building that has a total of 800 windows was covered with vinyl. The theme was focused on 'tiles', and rightly so to bring in a device the user interface (UI) was based on the same format.

The brand has recently introduced a couple of Lumia handsets namely the Lumia 920 and Lumia 820 and since their team up last year was extremely successful, Nokia and Deadmau5 are surely going to make something exciting happen on November 28, 2012.

The flagship handset, the Nokia Lumia 920 includes the latest Nokia PureView camera, which the company claims captures five times more light than competing smartphones. It gives bright pictures without flash, even indoors, and at night. It also features built-in wireless charging, making it easy to keep the battery topped up throughout the day, as well as a better-than-HD display.

Here is a quick look at the features of the Lumia 920:

  • 4.5 inch PureMotion HD+ LCD touchscreen with a resolution of 1280 x 768 pixels
  • 3G, EDGE, Wi-Fi, Wi-Fi Direct, NFC
  • Bluetooth v3.1 with A2DP
  • GPS with A-GPS and Nokia Maps Suite
  • 8.7-megapixel camera with 1080p HD video recording, and a 1.2-megapixel front-facing camera with 720p video recording
  • 32GB internal memory

If you’ve used any of Samsung’s flagships in the past, you’ll be right at home with the new S4. We quite liked the handset during our brief encounter with it a few weeks back and after using it for about a week, we have come to like it even more.
