Nokia N86 Update Brings Face Detection to The Camera

| by Shayne Rana | Smartphones

When I reviewed the Nokia N86, the company's Numero Uno 8MP camera phone, I had mentioned that although I thought and still agree that the handset itself was a pretty good mobile on the whole with a good camera, I did feel that the features included with the camera were too mundane, as high-end Nokia handsets go. There was nothing that made it different from the newer 5MP cameras the company had launched. However, reports are talking about a new firmware update that has upped the camera’s performance as well as its features.

Firmware update v20 has brought quite a lot to the table for Nokia fans and users, here’s a quick look at what you can expect to see after the update -
  • Improved photo and video capture quality
  • Face detection and a focus point indication (which also helps improve macro shots) added
  • Red-eye removal
  • Ovi Maps with a Digital Compass
  • Nokia Messaging
  • Ovi Chat on the Home Screen
  • New Ovi Store Client
For the complete list of bug fixes and updates that come along with the new firmware v20.115 click here. You can download the new update via your Nokia PC Suite Software Update option of OTA by typing *#0000# on the handset itself.
