Within hours of offering Palm Pre, eager customers in the US delivered the result. A record Sprint sales debut. By late Sunday, Palm Pre had broken previous sales records (first day and first weekend) for a Sprint device according to reports. "Sprint is a very different company than it was 12 months ago," said Dan Hesse, president and chief executive officer. "Palm Pre is the coming out party for the new Sprint. It is the perfect device that highlights all of the positive changes in our company, including our revolutionary Ready Now retail store experience, greatly improved customer care, unmatched value pricing plans and America's most dependable 3G network.” Much as we expected, the Palm Pre is getting a feel of what the iPhone feels like every time a new version is launched. The anticipation of getting a device found many customers waiting in line at Sprint retail stores all over the US. The new handset is going to change the way Palm has users and fans have viewed their devices. From multitasking and a PC like feel, the new WebOS is going to be a revolution. The handset is being priced at $299 which amounts to about Rs. 14, 200 with a 2 year contract. And according to the site, on closer inspection, in small print at the bottom, a rebate of $100 is being offered which will bring the pricing down to about Rs. 9,500 ($199). According to other reports, this rebate is only available for handsets purchased before 07/11/2009 though. |
