Pictures of the HTC Desire C captured in the wild

| by Aaron Almeida | Smartphones

A few weeks ago it was reported that HTC was planning on unveiling a lower end handset called the HTC Wildfire C, which goes by the codename HTC Golf. When back in April, news about this handset began first surfacing, it was believed that the upcoming handset would be a lower end model from the brand’s One series and would be priced lower than any of the other handsets from this range of smartphones. While nothing seems to have changed regarding the segment it is slotted in, a report by ITProPortal states that upon launch, the handset will be announced as the Desire C and not the Wildfire C as previously believed.

Apart from the change in the name, the website has also obtained live images of the handset. These images look a lot alike to the previous leaked press shot that surfaced in April. The handset is believed to feature a 3.5-inch display that sports a resolution of 480 x 320. As for the processor found on this smartphone, rumours point at a single core processor clocked at below 1GHz. The handset, like all HTC One handsets available so far will run on Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich and be laced with an HTC Sense 4.0 user interface.

Here is a quick look at what one can expect this yet unannounced handset to feature specification-wise:

  • Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich with Sense 4.0 UI
  • 3.5-inch display with a resolution of 480 x 320
  • Single-core CPU clocked at a speed of below 1GHz
  • 512MB RAM
  • 4GB Internal memory
  • MicroSD card slot
  • 5MP rear camera
  • Front facing camera
  • Bluetooth, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n
  • Beats Audio

The handset will also feature two years of free Dropbox cloud storage to a capacity of 25GB. In a related report by GSMArena, the website states, “The Desire C should be the HTC’s most affordable droid running on Ice Cream Sandwich (with Sense UI 4.0 on top). It will probably be announced quite soon, as the release should happen by the end of June.” As of now, there is no word yet available on the exact pricing, but one can expect it to be priced below the HTC One V, which upon its launch in India was available for INR17,000. Let us know your thoughts on this upcoming offering from HTC in the comments section below and what do you think the pricing of this handset will be.

 7.0

We’ve already established that the Lumia 720 is Nokia’s best effort as far as Windows Phone 8 handsets go. This could soon change once the Lumia 925 hits markets, but as it stands now, the Lumia 720 offers the best blend of features and performance, wrapped in a beautiful package that’s quite affordable.
